Gamma Rho Lambda Kappa Chapter was founded on November 12th, 2011 at University of Houston. Their rush falls within the first three weeks of each semester and holds events over two weeks. Kappa Chapter is a member of the University of Houston’s United Greek Council. They collaborate with a number of Greek and on-campus feminist and LGBT* organizations including Chi Omega, The Student Feminist Organization, The Women’s and LGBT Resource Center, and student LGBT* organization, GLOBAL. Kappa chapter volunteers with a number of Houston organizations including Kindred, an organization that supports LGBT* homeless youth; HATCH Youth, an organization dedicated to providing support to LGBT* youth and their families, and the Houston Humane Society. Kappa Chapter also volunteers for yearly events such as the Houston AIDs Walk, Houston’s Transgender Day of Remembrance Memorial Service, and the Lesbian Health Initiatives biannual Health Fair.
