I had been dating a sorority girl during my senior year of high school in Massachusetts and was exposed to it through her, however as a non-binary individual, I did not feel I had a place in Greek culture. When I moved to Texas, I found Kappa Chapter when exploring schools, and the rest is history.
After graduating, I began to see the impact of working with Gamma Rho Lambda on a national level. Much like most other Greek organizations, GRL provided me with plenty of post graduate opportunities to work with community and grow out of my shell.
I really enjoy the general direction that our new council board is taking. Combined, we have plenty of experience in dealing with working with people and respecting culture, boundaries, etc. in whatever that capacity may be. GRL has come a long way in terms of progress and inclusiveness, but with COVID and the general state of the world, it was really easy to just give up on the organization. Being on National Council means believing in the organization as you once did, even if it changes as the years go by.
