Answers to Your Frequently Asked Questions

General

  • Should I go to Convention this year?

Absolutely - every GRL Convention feels like a holiday that we look forward to every year!

Convention is full of friendship, traditions, learning - and a lot of fun. We're excited to offer lots of ways to to connect with other siblings to talk about GRL, shared identities,  hobbies, even cats.

Attending as a collegiate member, you'll leave with:

    • Skills to help you lead your chapter
    • Connections with other siblings across the country to support you through college and beyond.

As an alum member, you'll get to see old friends and make new connections. You can learn about what's been changing in GRL since you were in college and find ways to get involved again.

Whoever you are, we hope Convention is a time when you feel supported by our huge national family, validated in your identities and experiences, and loved for who you are.

You must be a Collegiate or Active Alum member to attend  Convention. If you are not currently an Active Alum, learn more about how to become an Active Alum so you can join our reunion!

We can't wait to see you there!

One Pack, One Path is the theme for Convention 2024. During 4 days. together, we will -

    One Pack

Instill a feeling of national unity among GRL siblings

    One Path

Cultivate a unified vision for the future of GRL

    • Prepare Chapters for a successful year of recruitment, retention & leadership
    • Facilitate conversations about the future of GRL
  • What's the dress code?

It's a busy weekend so wear what's comfortable for you. Purple and black are encouraged, and we love to see your GRL swag!

Banquet is  a semi-formal event, but there's no dress code. Wear what makes you fancy and fabulous!

You can see photos from past banquets and conventions on our GRL Facebook page for inspiration.

  • Did you consider that this will be happening over Father's Day weekend?

This year we were really limited by the dates available for the hotels in our budget.

Father's Day is challenging for some of our members who don't have positive relationships with their families. We hope that we can be a source of support for each other during Convention weekend.

For some siblings, Father's Day is an important holiday for them as children or fathers themselves. We  understand that it can be frustrating when our national events take place during holidays and that some members will choose not to attend Convention due to Father's Day celebrations. We hope to still see those siblings at our virtual national events and future in-person events!
