In Spring 2023, on alternating Sunday afternoons, our Council president hosted a space for current collegiate and alum siblings to reflect on the first 20 years of GRL. These meetings will be a combination of short informational presentations, time for questions, and conversations among siblings about our organization. Each week will have a specific topic for us to focus on, which will be updated below.
Each session will be held on Sundays at 1:30pm PT (3:30pm CT, 4:30pm ET) for 60-90 minutes. The Zoom Meeting information will be the same each time, which you can find through the President's or Alum Newsletter and our members-only Facebook groups. Not getting our emails? Make sure you're an Active Alum or check your Chapter's national email account.
Join the conversation as we reflect on the first 20 years of our organization to celebrate our strengths, acknowledge our missteps, and ask questions about what comes next for us. Come ready to share your story, listen to others, and bond with 20 years of GRL siblings!
During our first session, we'll give a short presentation on our national finances and the current dues increase proposal, and then be available to answer your questions about our national finances. I'd love to hear your perspectives on our financial priorities as an organization. I hope to record this session so that members who cannot attend can still access this information as they consider their decisions for our upcoming Delegation vote.
During our second session on Sunday, February 26th, you can learn more about:
Several current Council officers will be available to answer questions about our experiences volunteering on GRL's National Council.
We’ve had incredible, positive experiences in GRL - and moments we’ve wanted to give up on GRL. Let’s share our stories of both the light and dark sides of our siblinghood.
This is an opportunity to share about the diversity among our siblings and our Chapters - that weird Chapter tradition, your unique campus culture, what you value about yourself as an individual.
Bonds of Unity
Let’s listen to each others’ stories about connection - those times we felt we really belonged (and the times we didn’t).
Join us to share your perspective on what GRL does best - and where we need to change.
Truth in Tolerance
We are often questioned about why tolerance is one of our core values. In this session, we’ll talk about what tolerance means to each of us and share what we’ve learned from the sometimes challenging situations and people we’ve tolerated in our siblinghood.
We’ll dig in to talk about the challenges in our organization’s history and the direction we want for our future.
The Next 20 Years
Let’s talk about our visions for the future of GRL, so we can walk together into the next 20 years.
After two decades, we have hundreds of siblings across the globe with diverse stories and diverse ideas about what it means to be a part of Gamma Rho Lambda. Who we are. Who we should be. Who we could be still.
I want to hear your story. What makes you proud to wear these letters? What keeps you connected to your siblings? What has challenged your tolerance for them?
I want us to hear each other's stories. To take time during this anniversary year to reflect on what binds us together. To listen to the stories that unite us behind what we love - and the stories that show us where we've struggled.
I want us to strengthen our trust in each other so we can support each other and our organization in the 20 years after this one.
In trust,
Violet Benn
National President
