Epsilon Chapter - California State University, Northridge
Fall 2016
Omicron
I joined GRL because I did not have a large friend group and the folks who were members of the organization were very inviting and nonjudgemental; not only was I able to gain friends at my university but I was able to gain a community of people around the US who accepted me for who I was. Being a member of the LGBTQIA+ community is something that I was shy to mention to folks after I first came out, but after joining GRL I began to feel more comfortable with myself and my sexuality to where I was able to be myself in more spaces.
I began to volunteer on the alum committee after completing my undergraduate degree and wanting to continue to give back to the organization. While I was a collegiate member I had served as the alum liaison and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the folks who got my chapter to where it was when I joined. After graduating I felt that becoming a national volunteer specifically on the alum committee would allow me to continue to work with the alum community and fill my desire to continue giving back to the organization.
I feel honored to be trusted by my fellow siblings to be on National Council with the opportunity to work with other folks who are also passionate about the success as a whole of the organization; together we can continue to make a difference.
