As a transfer student, I was pretty isolated my first semester at the University of Iowa. One of the founders of Rho Chapter invited me to several GRL events, and I finally agreed to attend a game night with DLP. Everyone was so welcoming and it felt like I'd immediately been accepted into a family. I found a home and a community I hadn't even really known I'd needed.
I really wanted to stay connected with the organization on a national level after I graduated. I'd become friends with the then-VP of Communications and joined her committee, and eventually was a part of several other committees and project-based groups as well!
I think that my favorite part of being on National Council is being able to work with people who are as passionate about the organization as you are, and being able to really shape the foundations and the future of the organization. We've come so far as a group and even though the work is hard, it's rewarding to be able to look back and see all the progress we've made.
